On the morning of my examination, I got up bright and early so I could set off in good time to reach the hospital. A year or so earlier I had an operation to remove a fibroid, the thing had been causing me difficulty and discomfort for over two years and eventually the time had come when it just had to be removed. So on the day in question I got up, had a light breakfast and then got in the shower.
